Storytellers

A number of literary stalwarts gathered at the Irish Embassy on 24th May for an evening celebrating Ireland’s rich literary heritage featuring readings from the work of John McGahern, Edna O’Brien, Anna Burns and Colm Tóibín amongst others. Special thanks to Colette Ní Réamoinn Ioannidou who organised the event and to readers Brian Kelly, Andreas Iacovides and Tracey Brennan for their eloquent performances and also the the Ambassador who supplied the room and the wine and nibbles afterwards.

Not quite knowing what to expect on arrival, we were soon mesmerised by the words and verbal images conjured up in our minds that evening. Writings filled with amusing anecdotes to thoughtful moments and sombre mental images, we were treated to them all. Above all it was an intriguing insight into into some of the greatest Irish writers of modern times, more than just a story well told.

A word from Colette:

“I would like to say a big thank you from me to those who came to Storytellers last evening. It was a lovely warm event and I appreciate their support.”
